Sweet—

I’m writing this letter two weeks after the first. I thought I should tell you that. I’m not sure when you will have received the first. If it made it at all.

I hope very much that I can trust the person helping me reach you with these notes, but it’s a risk. It’s all a risk. It will be worth all the risk when I see your face again.

I still wait in the woods at dusk and dawn, but no sign yet of your other half.

We have sent out missives to five of our sister kingdoms. (There are seven, including the Crows and Roseland.) The Crows will have learned of this already, or maybe are learning of it as you read this letter. They have eyes everywhere, after all. I’ll include a copy of the missive so that you know what it says. If this is how the Crows find out (which I doubt) then so be it. I hope to have better news for you soon and to be with you. We will be fighting for you—
